Legislatures in One State Passing New Foreclosure Law

After the foreclosure debacle of late last year and early this year, state legislators across the country have re-evaluated state laws. A new bill is set to be signed by the governor of one state to help keep people in their homes.

Both sides of the aisle worked together to push this piece of legislation through. September of this year saw the highest levels of foreclosures in years. One in every 149 homes in the state was in the process of foreclosure during that time. After listening to countless tales of woe from state residents, legislators decided to take action.

The new bill will help protect homeowners from having their properties seized unnecessarily. It will clarify the laws regarding both pre-foreclosure and foreclosure processes to prevent another disaster in the state. Although the bill covers several important issues, it did include one important item: lenders will have to publish pre-foreclosure notices in papers to prevent scam artists from targeting homeowners.

Do you want to stop the foreclosure of your home? If so, contact the Malaise Law Firm today to arrange a time to speak with a South Texas bankruptcy attorney about your case and financial circumstances.
